Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to force a final set.

He saved four initial break points in a close final set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
